Hawaii is often thought of as a place full of romance, and to be sure it is, but it is also a wonderful place to visit with your family as well. For one thing, even children can appreciate the beauty of the natural surroundings that Hawaii is known for. And to top it off, there are plenty of activities for kids to enjoy as well. Particularly on the Island of Oahu, in the Ko Olina area, visitors can find a diverse variety of kid friendly activities. The best part is many of the activities that can be enjoyed by children can be enjoyed by adults as well. Although you may get to Oahu and find a completely different activity to enjoy, it helps to know of a few of the options, if for only to have an idea as to what is out there. Four kid friendly activities in particular seem to be especially loved by families who visit Oahu.
1. Disney Hawaiian Style – One of the most exciting options for entertainment for kids visiting Oahu is the Disney recreation area at Aulani, in the Ko Olina area. Although you will not find a Disney park here, you will find plenty of other kid friendly activities. Some of the features of the Disney owned property include a water slide, a water tube, the Menehune Bridge and Trail, a manmade snorkel lagoon, and the stingray filled conservation pool. All of these features can be enjoyed by the parents right along with the children, which truly makes for a family vacation.
2. Snorkeling – Snorkeling is a wonderful experience for children as well, and Oahu is an excellent place to snorkel. Snorkel cruises are offered throughout the day, and can be taken on a variety of different water vessels. Kids will love swimming with the wide variety of marine life that swim the waters, and parents will love watching their kids get to participate in such an amazing experience, and of course they’ll love the snorkeling too.
3. A Nature Tour – There is plenty of nature to see in Hawaii, and it may come as a surprise to some that it is not all in the water. There are plenty of other natural wonders to take your children to see on the Island of Oahu. Between the spectacular waterfalls, the delightful tropical rainforests, the historic volcano sites, and the wide variety of unusual wildlife you can be sure that a nature tour will not only be fun for your kids but a learning experience as well.
4. Pineapple Garden Maze – Finally, one of the most unusual activities for kids on the Island of Oahu is the Dole Pineapple Garden Maze. This is truly a one of a kind experience that both children and adults can enjoy. The maze consists of over two acres of native Hawaiian plants, and is an amazing site to see. In addition, there are other exciting things to do while visiting the Dole Cannery as well that you will not want to miss out on.
Hawaii may seem like a place for grown-ups but there is plenty to do there for kids too. And if you bring your kids along you can enjoy some of those activities that you may not have experienced if you left them at home, and bring out the kid in you.
