Every bride believes that her wedding is her own special day. Rightly so, making it easy to make the mistake of taking the people involved in the occasion for granted. With the all the fuss of wedding preparations, the groom easily gets alienated, making him wish that it was all over so everyone can get on with their lives – not a very good thing because it ruins the moment. It’s the same with all the other significant wedding participants. As a bride, you must avoid the all-about-me attitude and start to appreciate the people around you, or else you’ll end up having a wedding all by your lonesome.
The Entourage
You might be the fairy tale wedding’s princess, but you can’t ignore the fact that your ladies-in-waiting, also known as your bridesmaids, have significant roles to play as well. After all, they’ve been nothing but supportive all throughout your relationship with your prince charming, and even more so now that you’re about to take the vows of ever after.
On the male side, you have your prince charming’s closest friends to consider – the groomsmen. Just like your bridesmaids, they’ve been ever supportive of the match, and they each play an integral role of making sure that your groom don’t convulse in nervousness at the altar.
Don’t forget the flower girls, ring bearers, ushers and usherettes, and even your parents. Everybody has worked long and hard to make the wedding of your dreams happen and the least you can do is show your appreciation in tokens worthy of the tireless efforts they’ve collectively put in.
The Tokens
As a bride, it’s easy to assume that the only people getting presents on the wedding are you and your groom. It’s time to change your mindset, if only to show your appreciation to the people involved in the occasion.
Having a limited budget is not an excuse. Tokens need not be expensive. These can be little keepsakes that they can wholeheartedly appreciate. You can go for uniformity, like scented candles for the ladies and beer mugs for the guys. This is usually a good choice if you want to play it safe. You can also vary it up a bit by personality. Consider a spa or salon certificate for the beauty buff, a Zippo lighter or a cigarette case for a smoker, DVDs for a movie buff, and even a deck of cards for the poker player.
Whatever tokens you decide on, don’t forget to personalize. Otherwise, it’ll just seem perfunctory, even formal. You can have towels monogrammed, cuff links engraved, and jewelry boxes embossed.
Indeed, when it comes to showing your appreciation to the folks who make your wedding possible, you can never do too much. At the very least, you have tokens to do the job for you. Your day will still be your day. This way you’ll know you’re not alone in your joy. And there are no better people to share it with than the people you’ve chosen to take part of your wedding bliss.
