My husband, Gary, and I have been regular keynote speakers about the power of prayer and directed intention alongside frontier scientists studying Zero Point Field; this is the underlying matrix that connects everything in the universe, and we ourselves are part of this vast dynamic cobweb of energy exchange. These leading scientists are now proving what mystics have been saying for decades: that we all have control over our world, a capacity to heal ourselves and our loved ones and, indeed the world. Also, that the existence of the Field provides a plausible explanation for many unexplained phenomena, such as past lives or life after death, for many of the world-famous speakers presented evidence that consciousness is not encased in the brain and never dies.

The missing element from these theories is that secret elixir of life, love, hence the inclusion in these conferences of mystics as well as scientists. Potentially, the power of love through prayer, directed intention and healing, can affect every technology on the planet.

The fact that the power of Love is the secret elixir of life is not a new thought. This truth is engraved on the Sphinx, it is in the caves of the Anchorites near Mount Sinai, and on the great rock near Deir, Petraea, we are told: “The Torch of life is fed by the oil of Love.”

Just as love is the oil, intentional prayer is the tool that can draw upon the field – the universal supply of energy – and join this with the elixir of love, so that it becomes an alchemical force, to inspire ourselves and others. We can draw upon this vast universal field, mix it with the magical elixir, and use the results to transform our personal and global world. In fact with so much talk of energy shortage, we learn there need never be a shortage of energy. In the words of Lynne McTaggart: “Zero point field…. is a vast inexhaustible energy source all sitting there unobtrusively in the background of the empty space around us, like one all-pervasive, supercharged backdrop. To give you some idea of the magnitude of that power, the energy in a single cubic yard of ’empty’ space is enough to boil all the oceans of the world.” It is difficult to envision this type of immense transformative power. While we don’t want to boil all the oceans, we have found that, when we learn to “plug in” to this universal supply, other so-called miracles can occur.

My own Spiritual Master for over twenty five years, Dr. George King , Founder of The Aetherius Society, taught that the real energy crisis facing mankind was not so much a shortage of oil or electricity, but an underlying greed, a selfishness, a shortage of love. In the early 1970s he coined the phrase The Spiritual Energy Crisis. One major aspect of his life work was to invent technology for powerful healing missions that help balance this fundamental energy crisis, and bring love and healing into the world on an impersonal, global scale.

On an individual level, while “miracles” can happen to us without any preparation at all, the likelihood for apparently impossible things to happen is far greater if we can fully utilize the magic of the mind-body-spirit connection. While our conscious minds analyze, and create limits, checks and boundaries to help us understand the world around us, our soul or spiritual self is attuned to the limitless nature of Creation. The more we align ourselves with our spiritual aspects, therefore, the more we are operating in the realm of the miraculous. As Marianne Williamson said: “While we are used to looking to all manner of external powers to “fix” us – from medicine to technology to money, etc. – there is today a resurgence of inner knowing that the powers of the spirit surpass the powers of the world.”

Here is a story that indicates the power of the spirit, and the unusual way prayer can work. When a friend was a young student, living in England, he missed the last bus home. After a few miles, he realized he was in the middle of nowhere. By then, it was freezing cold, pitch dark and raining. As a naturally spiritual person, he decided to pray. Typical of this person, he did not actually pray for help for himself but offered some prayers for peace. He did not want to be seen so he went behind a thick bush and was silently praying hard when he suddenly heard a voice say: “I’m not going to see you hiding behind the bush!” He came out from behind the bush and saw that a truck had pulled up and was offering him a lift. When he asked the truck driver how he knew he was there, he just winked and smiled knowingly!

The more we prepare ourselves spiritually, the more the spiritual world opens up to us and can release its riches. There is actually no such thing as a miracle. So-called miracles happen when we learn to understand and control our mental-spiritual nature, and the seen and unseen worlds around us. These unusual events also happen when there is intervention between the physical and the higher realms.

Many yogis, adepts, sages, and mystics have, throughout the centuries, demonstrated control of matter in many, often spectacular, ways. The great Avatar, Jesus demonstrated great miracles such as healing, walking on water, and raising the dead. He also told us that we could do greater things than even he could. Dr. George King, found that while in a highly elevated mystic state, the result of many hours of spiritual practices, he would levitate at times. His landlady could not understand the round marks of grease on his ceiling: like young men in those days he wore cream to flatten his hair! He also recounted the time when he went into a store and everybody ignored him. He suddenly realized he was invisible! Again, the result of hours of spiritual practices.

All the great spiritual teachers, masters, yogis, and enlightened ones of every faith throughout history have taught us this same truth in their different ways. We are all capable of these things. We just have to access the miracle machine within us. One of the best keys to unlock the great spiritual power within us is prayer.

As well as helping others through our prayers, they will also help us. Prayer, performed effectively, will bring better health, clarity of mind, and more creativity and intuition. As well as these physical and mental benefits there are, above all, numerous spiritual benefits. As action and reaction is opposite and equal, by the Law of Karma, we must receive back the same amount and quality of love, healing and inspiration that we send out.

Swami Sivenanda, one of the world’s true spiritual giants (1887-1963), taught “Work hard and you will be purified. You do not have to bring the light, the light will unfold from within you.” (Tattwa Shuddhi: The Tantric Practice of Inner Purification – Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Exercise: Preparing for Miracles

Start each day with a prayer to put you in the right frame of mind to see the miraculous in life.

The following is a suggested prayer you may wish to use to begin this prayerful journey. For greatest effect, say the prayer out loud with all your heartfelt feeling, keep your hands raised up, palms facing outwards, and visualize energy flowing through you as a brilliant, white stream of light. This is energy from the field, conditioned by your love and by the intention of your prayer. By raising your hands in this way, you are allowing spiritual energy to flow freely through your heart center (also known as chakra) situated in your aura just in front of the breastbone, and through the psychic centers in the palms of each hand

Oh Mighty Creator
I ask that your light, power and strength
May unfold within me
So that my Spiritual self, Spark of the Divine,
May guide and direct me always.
I ask that I may be ever aware
Of the beauty and wonder of Creation
And help to build this within my life
And in the world around me.
I thank you for listening to my prayer
May Your will be done.

You will know when you are drawing through yourself the great powers of the Cosmos through your prayers, as you will have many signs. These may be one or more of the following:

  • Sudden flashes of insight.
  • An increased interest in the great mysteries of life.
  • Feelings of spiritual joy and aliveness.
  • An enhanced appreciation of creation and the oneness of life.
  • A greater sense of spiritual fulfillment and personal accomplishment.
  • Increased sensitivity for the suffering and joy of others, as well as increased physical sensitivity.
  • Greater awareness of the subtle realms.
  • More psychic ability and creativity.
  • And more…
